On Sunday, May 17, 2015 at approximately 12:25am members of the Gretna Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Rose Drive in reference to a Hispanic male armed with a knife. The suspect was later identified as Juan Serpas-Argueta.

Serpas-Argueta contacted the victim, whom is not being identified at this time, via telephone, moments before stated that he was coming over. The victim stated the she advised Serpas-Argueta that she did not want him at her residence because of their recent divorce. The victim stated when Serpeas-Argueta arrived at the residence and she refused to let him in, that’s when he kicked the door in.

The victim stated that she ran to a bedroom where her daughter was sleeping but Serpas-Argueta followed her. Serpas-Argueta then grabbed her and began trying to kiss on her, but she refused. Serpas-Argueta then went to the kitchen, armed himself with a butcher knife and stated “If I can’t have you then I will kill you and then I will kill myself”. The victim fled the residence and was able to call the police.

Upon arrival of the police Serpas-Argueta was still on scene and was placed under arrest without any further incident. Serpas-Argueta was charges with Home Invasion, Domestic Abuse/Child Endangering and Aggravated Assault.
