Gretna Police Connects Kids and Officers with New Interactive Learning Tool
On Tuesday, July 24, 2018 the City of Gretna Police Department will proudly embark on a new phase of Community Relations, with the introduction of the newest member of our department Officer Ernie (The Ant). This introduction will take place at the, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Louisiana, Westbank Unit, located at 900 10th Street, Gretna, LA. 70053 at 3:30pm.
Officer Ernie, is an educational program created by Mr. Peter Nowak, President of Nowak Enterprises, Inc. in Pensacola FL. and his wife Bronagh. Mr. & Mrs. Nowak have always been advocates of early childhood education so, Officer Ernie’s, educational programs are designed for children Pre-K (4) four to (8) eight years of age. The Nowak’s also being strong supporters of law enforcement, thought what better way to build trust and respect between police officers and children than to make Officer Ernie a very approachable, friendly, smiling faced, Ant dressed in the uniform of his assigned department. Officer Ernie has an interactive touch screen, children, officers and educators can interact with.
In 2015, the first Officer Ernie joined the Pensacola Police Department, where he is still a tremendous success in the Voluntary Pre-K Centers. Mrs. Nowak is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and thought Officer Ernie might be well received by police departments in her home state. So through Nowak Enterprises, Inc, Louis Colin Partners and the Gretna Police Department, Officer Ernie’s first Louisiana duty assignment will be with the Gretna Police Department.
