On Friday, May 31, 2019, at approximately 4:00am, members of the Gretna Police Department were dispatched to the area of Adams and Weidman Streets in Gretna reference to gun shots.
Upon officers arrival in the area the officers located a vehicle and attempted to conduct an investigative stop at which time the vehicle fled.
Officers pursued the vehicle to Franklin Street towards Stumpf Boulevard onto the elevated expressway where the driver discarded a firearm before crossing the Mississippi River Bridge. The vehicle had no regard for citizens or other vehicles while fleeing by disregarding all traffic control signals.
Officers pursued the vehicle for approximately 13 miles. The vehicle came to a brief stop in a neighborhood off Dwyer, just long enough for 3 small children to exit the vehicle.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop near Mean Avenue in New Orleans where the driver fled on foot, with the use of a K-9, the driver, identified as Sandreaka Dixon Antoine, B/F, 10/21/1975, last known address of 6730 Tara Lane in New Orleans, was apprehended.
Through further investigation the weapon that was discarded was recovered and identified as a Glock 40 Caliber. It was also learned that Antoine attempted to shoot the lock off of the closed business of Dale’s Towing, in an attempt to gain entry.
Antoine has been charged with, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Convicted Felon with a Firearm, Child Desertion, Aggravated Flight, Resisting Arrest, Attempted Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Outstanding Warrants from Jefferson Parish and Falsifying Public Records by initially using her sister’s name.
